Dumas Beach is an urban beach along the Arabian Sea, located 21 kilometers (13 mi) southwest of the City of Surat in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is a popular tourist destination in South Gujarat. Leaving the scenic beauty and delicious food options aside, Dumas Beach is also famous for being in the top 35 haunted spots in India.


The beach has black sand, and is notorious for incidents, such as people disappearing. It is believed that the beach had earlier been used as a burial ground.
As per Hindu tradition, the human body is burnt after death, and this beach is used by the local residents for that purpose. The tourists who visit this beach hear many voices, but cannot see anyone. These voices tell them to go back to where they have come from. Jadav  " Molai "  Payeng  (born 1963) is an  environmental  activist  and forestry worker from  Jorhat , India. Over the course of several decades, he planted and tended trees on a  sandbar  of the river  Brahmaputra  turning it into a forest reserve. The forest, called  Molai forest  after him is located near Kokilamukh of  Jorhat , Assam,  India  and encompasses an area of about 1,360 acres / 550  hectares . In 2015, he was honoured with  Padma Shri , the fourth highest civilian award in India. He was born in the indigenous  Mising tribe  of Assam. Jadav Payeng belongs to the  Mising  tribe in Assam, India. He lives in a small hut in the forest.
